Attorney Matthew
A. Slater is an experienced trial attorney and has litigated many jury
and bench trials at various state court levels. He is licensed to practice
law before all courts in Massachusetts, Florida, and the District of
Columbia. He is also admitted before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Matthew is a member of the Florida Bar Association, the Massachusetts
Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Dade County Bar
Association.

Matthew
is a former Assistant Public Defender for Miami-Dade
County, Florida. He has successfully handled juvenile, criminal, white
collar, and government investigations in a variety of diverse cases,
ranging from misdemeanors to complex
felonies. Matthew’s
general legal practice encompasses criminal defense, estate planning,
business startups, constitutional law, domestic relations, personal injury
matters, and general litigation.
A graduate of Skidmore College (B.A. 2000, cum laude and Pi Sigma
Alpha), Matthew was awarded the Henry T. Moore Prize in Government. In college,
he worked as an intern for U.S. Senator Robert Smith (NH) in Washington, D.C.
during the impeachment trial of President Clinton. Matthew received his Juris
Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law in 2003, and he served on
the editorial board of the International and Comparative Law Review. His published
work includes Trumpeting Justice: The Implications of U.S. Law and Policy
for the International Rendition of Terrorists from Failed or Uncooperative States,
12 U. Miami Int’l & Comp. L. Rev. 151 (2004). While in law school,
Matthew was awarded Litigation Skills Honors and received the Florida Association
of Criminal Defense Lawyers Award.
